Students enrolled in the Early Childhood Programs participate in activities designed to promote their total growth and development. The curriculum fosters development of each child's creativity, independence, self-direction, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Each Early Childhood classroom is organized to offer individual, small and large group learning experiences. Developmentally appropriate activity areas offer each child multiple opportunities to engage in active learning. Through careful design of the classroom plan each child's needs, whether for enhancement or enrichment, are met. Positive reinforcement, emotional support and respect of the individual young child are observable in each Early Childhood classroom and are critical elements of our success.
Additionally, preschool children experiencing delays in development and who are eligible within Pennsylvania guidelines for Early Intervention, engage in specifically adapted activities to facilitate growth in cognitive, social, adaptive/self-care, fine and gross motor skill areas. Teachers and Therapists work collaboratively to design and implement classroom-based activities which facilitate each child's development. Based on the child's Individual Education Plan, additional individual or small group services will be provided by an Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Speech Language Pathologist, Behavior Management Specialist and the School Psychologist.
